This summer we finally got our first holiday abroad since 2018. The combination of starting a business and then the Covid outbreak put the brakes on any plans to travel since then. We were lucky enough to make it to Spain and I have to say it was a pretty painless experience. The only nerves we had were during our Covid test two days before just in case we had to stay and quarantine. Luckily for us, all the tests returned negative.
We have had a few trips to Scarborough in that time which we love and the kids do too. However, there is something totally different about going abroad for me. I don’t know whether it’s down to the flight, the different air or the weather. It’s not the same abroad.
For whatever reason, we were able to completely relax, even with two kids running around. It was the first time in two years that not only me, but my wife was able to fully switch off.
Not having to think about the business and focus on time with the family means that coming back home is like a new start. With everything that has happened over the last 18 months it finally feels like I can draw a line under it.
With the benefit of a mental reset in place, it feels like a new chapter for my business. I feel motivated and excited for the future, and to really start to drive the growth of the business.
Although no big change is coming in terms of what I do for clients, the focus is to improve the service I am delivering to them and also shout about what I do more in the content I produce.
The other thing that the holiday reinforced is one of my core values when it comes to money. To use it to spend time with the kids and give them great experiences, whether that is on holiday or by other means.
