I know that working with a professional financial adviser is unique, and can be daunting if you're not already familiar with the process. To help you in your decision making, we’ve set out some of the most frequently asked questions from others who've been in your shoes.

What is the Clarity Conversation and what happens?

The Clarity Conversation is a free 30-minute call. No pitch, no preparation needed on your part. I ask you to describe where you're at in your own words — what you're trying to achieve, what's been on your mind. I'll ask a few questions to understand your situation and tell you honestly whether I think I can help. If I can't, I'll say so and point you in the right direction. Worst case, you hang up knowing something you didn't.

Do I have to commit to anything at the first call?

No. The Clarity Conversation is genuinely free and genuinely without obligation. I will not pitch you during the call. If you want to proceed after we've spoken, I'll send you a written proposal with the exact fee and scope confirmed. Nothing starts until you've agreed in writing. There are no hidden stages and no pressure to decide on the call.

Who is this right for?

Most of my clients are senior executives, Big 4 equity partners or business owners in their 40s and early 50s. They've done everything right financially — good income, pension somewhere, often property — but nobody has ever properly joined the full picture up for them. They want to know when work could become genuinely optional, what to do with RSUs when they vest, whether the pension is actually on track, and whether the life they've been deferring is one they could already afford. If that sounds like you, we're probably a good fit.

How much does the Clarity Life Plan cost?

The Clarity Life Plan is a fixed fee agreed in writing before any work begins. Foundation: £1,995 for employed professionals with a single pension and ISA. Core: £2,995 for senior executives and business owners with RSUs, multiple pensions and more complex situations — this is the most common tier. Comprehensive: £4,995 for complex multi-entity situations involving trusts, exit planning or IHT. A 50% deposit starts the work. The balance is due on delivery of your Clarity Roadmap. Fees can typically be paid from existing pensions or investments. No VAT on any service.

What makes you different to other financial advisers or financial planners?

Most advisers will tell you they are different.  However talk is cheap, so rather than spending time telling you how we are different we spend our time actually being different.
So get in touch and we can walk the walk, rather than talk the talk. Once you speak with us, we are confident you will be able to answer this question yourself.

I already work with a financial planner, how are you different?

What is included in the planning fee?

Two planning sessions, a full cashflow model, and your written Clarity Roadmap. Everything is covered in the fee: life design, pension carry-forward review, RSU strategy (Core and above), tax planning, protection assessment, investment strategy and estate planning overview. You receive a Clarity Roadmap v1 within 48 hours of Session 1 and your Clarity Roadmap Final within 48 hours of Session 2. New ISA and pension recommendations are included. Implementation — actually setting up pensions, ISAs and protection — is charged separately at fixed, agreed rates.

What are the implementation fees?

Each pension or ISA consolidated is £500 per plan — so four pensions costs £2,000. General Investment Accounts are £995. Protection insurance is arranged on a commission basis with full disclosure before arrangement. More complex work such as EIS, VCT, SIPP commercial property or trust setup is a fixed fee from £2,500, agreed before any work begins. All implementation fees are confirmed in writing before any work starts.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes. If after the two planning sessions the plan hasn't delivered sufficient value, the balance of the planning fee is waived. The deposit covers work already done. There is no further obligation. This is written into the client agreement — it's not a marketing claim. It means I only take on clients I'm genuinely confident I can help.

What does ongoing support cost?

Ongoing planning is optional — not every client continues. If you do, there are two tiers. Essentials at £125-175 per month includes one planning meeting per year. Core at £225–£295 per month includes two to three meetings per year and is recommended for executives, business owners and equity partners with evolving situations. Investment management is charged separately at 0.3% of advised assets per year, capped at £4,500 annually. No exit fees. No lock-in. Cancel with ten business days' written notice.

What is the Clarity Life Plan?

The Clarity Life Plan is a two-session financial planning engagement. Session 1 (90–120 minutes) starts with a life design conversation — not with your pension. I want to understand what a genuinely good life looks like for you, what you want work to look like in 10 years, and what the money is actually for. From there we map every asset, pension and liability and I calculate when work could become genuinely optional for you — based on your actual numbers, not a rule of thumb. Session 2 (45–60 minutes, 4–8 weeks later) confirms every recommendation, letters of authority are signed and implementation begins immediately. Your written Clarity Roadmap is delivered within 48 hours of each session.

What is the Clarity Roadmap?

The Clarity Roadmap is the written output of the Clarity Life Plan. It is a prioritised, actionable document covering every element of your financial life — in order of impact — with a 12-month action plan. It is not a folder of policy documents. It is a plan you can actually follow. A first version is delivered within 48 hours of Session 1. The final version is delivered within 48 hours of Session 2 after all recommendations are confirmed and agreed.

Do you implement the plan or just advise?

Both. Implementation is optional but I coordinate it end to end if you want me to — pension consolidations, ISA setup, protection arranged. Everything is managed: applications submitted, transfers chased, providers liaised with throughout. You don't need to handle the admin. Fixed implementation fees apply, agreed in writing before any work begins.

What qualifications do you hold?

I'm a Chartered Financial Planner (CII) and Fellow of the Personal Finance Society (FPFS) — one of fewer than 1,000 financial advisers in the UK to hold this designation. I'm also a Certified Coach. I have over 17 years in financial services and 14 plus years advising clients directly. Work to Live Financial Planning Limited is an appointed representative of ValidPath Ltd, authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA Reference Number 197107). Company Registration Number 12059588.

Are you independent?

Yes. I'm not tied to any product provider or platform. I research the whole of market and recommend what is right for your situation, not what earns the highest commission. Protection is arranged on a commission basis with full disclosure before arrangement. Everything else is a fixed fee with no hidden revenue.

I already have a financial adviser. Why would I speak to you?

Most people who come to me have had financial advice before — a pension set up, investments arranged. What they haven't had is someone ask what the money is actually for, model when work could become genuinely optional, and deliver a written plan that connects everything together. If your current adviser does all of that, stay in that relationship. If they don't, the Clarity Conversation is free and there's no obligation. You can find out in 30 minutes whether there's a gap worth filling.
