We know that working with a professional financial adviser is unique, and can be daunting if you're not already familiar with the process. To help you in your decision making, we’ve set out some of the most frequently asked questions from others who've been in your shoes.
The first meeting is at no cost to you and there's certainly no obligation for you to become a client. These meetings can be held virtually, at your home or at a suitable location which we'll mutually agree, depending on where you are based.
We only take on clients who we feel are the right fit for our business and who we're confident we can service and add value for. If we feel we can support you to achieve what you set out, your fee will depend on the complexity of your current financial situation and investable assets - but don't worry, this will be agreed before any further meetings.
We don’t charge VAT on our fees and they can be facilitated from existing investments or pensions if suitable. We are confident our fees are great value for our clients and many consider it an investment in its own right.
Absolutely not. It’s important that you are happy and comfortable to proceed rather than to rush into things at the first meeting. The first meeting is purely a discovery meeting - a chance for you to get to know us, and us to know you a little better.
Our founder, Ian Richards, is a Chartered Financial Planner and has over 10 years’ experience in financial services. Ian holds the prestigious title of Fellow of the Personal Finance Society - the highest qualification awarded and one of less than 1000 financial advisors in the UK to have this accolade. You are therefore in very safe hands! Work to Live is an appointed rep of Validpath who are regulated by the FCA.
We believe that to get the best outcomes, everyone should have a financial plan before deciding on how to manage their money.
If you were going to run a marathon you would benefit from having a proper training plan in place to help you achieve your goal. We believe a financial plan works in the same way and can deliver unforeseen value in terms of cash flow, spending and preparing for life’s transitions.
Although everyone would benefit from a plan, if at your life stage you just wish to set up a pension or pay down some extra debt, you can do this without a specific plan. That said, for those that are preparing for the rest of their life, we believe a financial plan is essential.
Most advisers will tell you they are different. However talk is cheap, so rather than spending time telling you how we are different we spend our time actually being different. So get in touch and we can walk the walk, rather than talk the talk. Once you speak with us, we are confident you will be able to answer this question yourself.
This comes down to the coaching approach we take of focussing on you and your life rather than just the numbers and the products.
We can do all the stuff that your existing financial adviser is hopefully doing for you - such as looking after your money - but all within the context of your overall financial plan, which we will create for you.
If you are currently just paying for investment management you may not be getting true value for your money, as the returns received are a result of what the markets would deliver rather than any particular skill of the adviser. Remember no adviser has a crystal ball, or can guarantee returns.
The first port would be to give us a call - we love to talk. You can also check out our guides for more practical information, or if you'd like to get a better feel for our approach you can check out our social media where you’ll find lots of videos and posts which explains what we do and how we do it.
We're passionate about delivering value and creating positive change for people which means we only work with those individuals we're confident we can support. We know we won’t be to everyone’s taste (some people really want an adviser in a suit!), but for the people that are right for us, we are exactly what they are looking for.
